Our day-to-day eco-friendly actions
Here’s what we do every day to make your stay in Numana sustainable and comfortable:
- A green gesture for every stay For every guest who stays for more than 7 nights, we plant a young olive tree in their name in our field: a tangible reminder of their visit that helps to enhance the local area and the environment.
- From our vegetable garden to your table We have created a small organic vegetable garden to grow fresh vegetables for use in the kitchen: locally sourced produce that is ideal for a healthy and sustainable diet.
- 100% renewable energy Thanks to an 80 kW solar power system, we reduce our CO₂ emissions by around 30,000 kg a year (the equivalent of planting 1,500 trees). The remaining energy we purchase comes exclusively from renewable sources, meaning we cover 100 per cent of our electricity needs.
- Water heating using solar panels We use 18 solar panels to heat domestic water and the indoor spa pool, thereby reducing our environmental impact.
- Goodbye to single-use plastic We have phased out single-use plastic in the bar, minibars, dining room and by the pool. We only use reusable and compostable materials.
- Comprehensive waste sorting scheme Throughout the hotel, including the guest rooms, we encourage careful and effective recycling, so you too can play your part in our initiative.
- Responsible use of water resources We have fitted flow restrictors in the rooms and use water from a well to water most of the green spaces.
- Energy-efficient LED lighting We use LED lights indoors and outdoors, as well as motion sensors, to reduce energy wastage.
- A natural and certified spa range Pure well-being with Bio Thai products: organic extracts, virgin oils and wild plants of food-grade quality. A certified Italian range that cares for your skin whilst respecting nature.
- Eco-friendly detergents We use only Ecolabel-certified detergents for our laundry and dishwasher.
- Free filtered water We provide filtered and purified water so you can top up your water bottles for free: it’s the same water we use in the restaurant, to reduce the use of single-use bottles.
- Chlorine-free indoor swimming pool Thanks to the salt treatment used in our indoor swimming pool, we reduce our use of chlorine, thereby protecting the environment and looking after your skin.
- Cooling systems We recover the warm air produced by our summer cooling system and reuse it to heat domestic hot water for the rooms and the swimming pool, using energy recovery systems.
- E-bikes and charging pointsWe offer e-bikes and a charging point for electric cars, thereby promoting sustainable mobility.
- A little gift for you that ‘brings sustainability to life’ In your room, you’ll find an eco-friendly pencil: biodegradable and made from natural materials. Once you’ve used it up, you can plant it: it contains seeds that can grow into herbs or flowers. A simple gesture, but one with a clear message: sustainability continues at home too.
- It’s not just about the environment… find out more about our commitment to social issues too As well as environmental sustainability, we are committed to supporting the local community. We work in partnership with the Croce Bianca di Numana and with the team at Frolla, an inclusive biscuit factory that employs people with disabilities and uses flour sourced exclusively from the Marche region.
